I am sure that most of you have heard about the guy named John Albert Gardner III. If not I will fill you in real quick. He is a registered sex offender whose psychiatrist stated that he was still a danger to young girls. Mr. Gardner was in prison and up for parole when his doctor made this statement. But for reasons unknown he was released anyway. Mr. Gardner is now facing a murder charge in the death of a young girl named Chelsea King.
The police are even looking into the possibility that he had something to do with the disappearance of another 14 year old girl named Amber Dubois. Amber disappeared last February and has not been seen since.
Here is what I do not get. Why on GOD's green earth would a parole board be dumb enough to release a man whose doctor says that he is a danger to young girls? If they had not released this sick man there would still be a young girl alive, possibly two young girls. They said on the news last night that sex offenders are monitored but that they sometimes give the wrong address to police and so therefore they are not being monitored. They had another man on the news who is also a registered sex offender who stated, "unless they are getting counseling they will never be okay to live in society." I happen to agree with this. You cannot put a man in jail for five years and expect him to be better the minute he gets out. You have to counsel him for the rest of his life. Even then I feel that some of these men are still a danger.
There is a web site that I have tried repeatedly to remember how to find and for the life of me I cannot remember where it is. But you can go on it and put in your address and it will show you all the registered sex offenders within like five miles of your house. Me and my husband done this one time and it showed I think 12 or 13. That is a lot. I know that not all of them are child cases but it is still scary.
I wrote about this because I want everyone to be aware of the dangers so close to their homes. I think I may have found another website that you can check for sex offenders near you .

It makes me angry to think that people like this are released. Our jails are over filled with non-violent criminals, and we let the violent ones out. It's time we changed our justice system so things like this won't happen in the future.
